The City in the Middle of it All
Xuzhou is a mix of new and old, between modern and traditional. There are major shopping malls side by side with street vendors, modern apartment buildings and traditional Chinese households. Outside your apartment building you will find small shops, a variety of restaurants, retired Chinese watching their grandchildren or playing majiang, and evening dancing in the squares.
From the vibrant street markets downtown to the gorgeous man-made lake in the south-west of the city, life as a foreigner in Xuzhou is always an interesting adventure, but at the same time always comfortable. While having access to international restaurants and supermarkets, you have the benefits of local prices which makes daily life in Xuzhou very attractive.
In Xuzhou, there are plenty of ways to spend your free time. Whether you like yoga, basketball, cinema, or a night out at a small bar or club, you will find something.
Considered the major transit hub of China— you can travel to Shanghai or Beijing in less than 3 hours, or go on a short trip to traditional Qufu or Kaifeng
