The Rice Barn
Karawang used to be known as a massive rice source, due to its extensive rice fields and agricultural history. The expansive green rice fields produce for both the local farmer area and the rest of West Java.
Over the years it has grown to become an industrial district and there’s a significant number of factories in the area which cater for the automotive industry. These factories are also local and international automobile manufactures, making the area a hub and attracting a lot of people.
Food: Must try foods include Soto Gempol, Sate Maranggi along with sweet snacks such as Es Dodong Hideung Ketan and Jojongkong.
Leisure: Resinda Mall, Wonderworld and Taruma Leisure Waterpark are close by for all your shopping and water adventures without having to go far.
Culture: Visit the Karawang Heritage Museum, temples, ruins and Vihara & Kelenteng Sian Djin Ku Poh is where you can experience a bit of the city’s history and religion.
